We seek an enthusiastic and skilled Youth Sports Instructor to join our team and lead engaging, safe, and developmentally appropriate sports programs for children and teens. The ideal candidate will bring energy, structure, and motivation to the youth sports environment, helping young athletes build skills, confidence, and a love for the game.
This role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and a passion for youth development through sports.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction & Engagement
- Develop and deliver age-appropriate lesson plans and instructional materials for basketball, soccer, baseball, and football.
- Teach individual and team-based sports skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
- Use various teaching tools and multimedia to enhance the learning experience.
- Foster confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline in young athletes.
Team and Program Support
- Lead teams during practices, games, and tournaments.
- Coordinate tryouts, schedule practices, and communicate effectively with athletes and parents.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, registration, fees, and team rosters.
- Support seasonal leagues, camps, and club programs in alignment with organizational policies.
- Supervise and guide assistant instructors or coaching volunteers.
Operations & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for youth participants.
- Ensure sports equipment is stored correctly, maintained, and used safely.
- Comply with safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Stay trained and certified in CPR and First Aid.
- Track program expenses and assist in budget planning.
Administration & Communication
- Regularly communicate with parents, guardians, and school or league administrators.
- Participate in staff meetings, training workshops, and team briefings.
- Assist with developing and enforcing policies, procedures, and behavior standards.
- Perform additional administrative or program duties as assigned.
Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience coaching or teaching youth sports.
- Strong understanding of fundamental techniques in multiple sports (e.g., basketball, soccer, lacrosse, baseball).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to motivate and engage young participants of all skill levels.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before start).
Preferred Qualifications
- Coaching certifications (e.g., USSF, ASEP, or equivalent).
- Experience managing youth leagues, clubs, or athletic camps.
- Bilingual or multilingual communication skills.
