Youth Support Worker Job Description

We’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about making a difference in young people’s lives. As a Youth Support Worker, you’ll work closely with youth who may be going through tough times—navigating school, dealing with family challenges, or trying to figure out their next steps in life.

You will guide, support, and encourage them as they build confidence, life skills, and independence. If you’re a patient listener, a steady presence, and passionate about helping youth thrive, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

  1. Be a mentor and positive role model for the youth in your care.
  2. Help young people build practical life skills like budgeting, healthy eating, and time management.
  3. Support youth in managing emotional or behavioral challenges with compassion and structure.
  4. Work with schools, families, and other support networks to ensure each young person has what they need to succeed.
  5. Be there during key moments—attending a school meeting, arranging a doctor’s visit, or helping resolve a conflict.
  6. Keep detailed records and stay on top of any updates about the youth you support.
  7. Participate in team meetings and help shape youth programs that are inclusive and impactful.

What We’re Looking For

  1. Someone with a good understanding of mental health, substance use, and developmental challenges.
  2. A calm, clear-headed thinker—especially during high-stress situations.
  3. Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with young people from all walks of life.
  4. The ability to spot when a young person is struggling and respond in a supportive, effective way.
  5. Organized, reliable, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  6. Previous experience in youth work, social services, or community support is a big plus.
  7. CPR and First Aid certification, or a willingness to get certified, is ideal.

Nice to Have

  • A diploma in social work, psychology, youth development, or a related field.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth or in community outreach programs.
  • A valid driver’s license and flexibility to travel locally, if needed.

Why Join Us?

At [Company Name], we believe every young person deserves to be seen, supported, and valued. We’re building a team that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. No matter your background, if you’re passionate about youth work and want to help build brighter futures, we welcome your application.
