X-Ray Technician Job Description

We’re seeking a skilled and detail-oriented X-Ray Technician to join our medical imaging team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures using X-ray and other radiographic equipment.

You’ll play a key role in helping physicians accurately diagnose and treat medical conditions while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform x-ray examinations by clinical protocols and safety standards
  • Position patients correctly to ensure optimal imaging results and minimal discomfort
  • Operate radiographic equipment, including portable x-ray machines, fluoroscopy, and (where applicable) CT or MRI systems
  • Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment to ensure safe and accurate performance
  • Assist physicians with reading and interpreting radiographic images
  • Enter and update patient data accurately in the electronic medical records (EMR) system
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient health information
  • Monitor supplies and recommend servicing or replacement of equipment when needed
  • Help schedule patient exams and ensure timely follow-ups
  • Maintain logs, reports, and documentation as required
  • Support other radiology staff and assist with administrative tasks when needed

Requirements and Skills

  • Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field
  • ARRT certification (or eligible)
  • State licensure (if applicable)
  • 2+ years of experience in a radiology or x-ray department preferred
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
  • Proficient with imaging software and electronic health records
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to interact with patients in a calm, respectful, and compassionate manner
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a healthcare team
  • Commitment to patient safety and confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CT, MRI, or fluoroscopy
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Prior experience working in a hospital or urgent care setting
