FINCA Tanzania is seeking a qualified and motivated Database Administrator to join its Information Services and Operations department at the Head Office. This role is vital in maintaining and optimizing database systems across various platforms, ensuring high performance, security, and data integrity within FINCA’s digital infrastructure.

Role Summary
The Database Administrator will lead the technical maintenance, optimization, and support of FINCA’s databases across Oracle, MSSQL, Core Banking Systems, Cloud (AWS), and other related platforms. The role also involves implementing security measures, ensuring backups, and monitoring performance for 24/7 system availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage database environments (Oracle, MS SQL, etc.)
- Monitor, tune, and optimize database performance
- Conduct full backups and ensure secure storage of data
- Manage database security, access controls, and replication
- Perform installations, Linux shell scripting, and logical/physical database design
- Support application database performance, continuity, and availability
- Collaborate on data migration, integration, and project change requests
- Maintain compliance with IS standards and procedures
- Document issues and resolutions; contribute to the internal knowledge base
- Work with IT teams for issue resolution, performance review, and support
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar role
- Certifications: Database Administration certifications are a plus
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of Oracle and MS SQL database systems
- Familiarity with core banking systems (Orbit-Rubicon preferred)
- Experience with Linux and Windows server administration
- Basic knowledge of programming languages (PHP, C#, Java)
- Experience with application servers (WebLogic, Apache, IIS, Tomcat)
- Knowledge of reporting tools and platforms knowledge
- Knowledge of ITIL practices is an added advantage
