Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) is now accepting applications for the METI Government of Japan Internship Program 2025. This fully funded internship allows international students to gain valuable professional experience by working with Japanese companies.
Open to students from OECD/DAC countries, the program aims to strengthen cooperation and mutual understanding between Japan and developing countries through practical training in Japanese industries.
Program Overview
- Host Country: Japan
- Duration: 6 weeks
- Number of Interns: Up to 100 (one intern per company)
- Who Can Apply: Undergraduate, graduate, and recently graduated students
- Financial Support: Fully funded
- Deadline to Apply: June 30, 2025
Internship Schedule Options
Participants will join one of the following sessions:
- 25 August – 24 September 2025
- 1 October – 19 November 2025
- 5 November – 21 December 2025
Financial Coverage
Selected interns will receive:
- Round-trip airfare to and from Japan
- Accommodation for the whole duration of the internship
- A daily stipend of 3,000 yen
- Visa support for entry into Japan
- Internship insurance
- Provision of electronic devices, including laptops and mobile phones (as needed)
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a citizen of a country on the OECD/DAC List of ODA Recipients

- Be 18 to 40 years old as of August 25, 2025
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a higher education institution
- Be able to provide:
- A certificate of enrollment or graduation
- A letter of recommendation
- Be fully committed to participating in the scheduled internship period
