WordPress Developer Job Description

We’re looking for a skilled and creative WordPress Developer to join our team and help bring our digital presence to life. In this role, you’ll be responsible for building custom WordPress themes, maintaining and updating existing sites, and ensuring high performance, responsiveness, and accessibility.

From developing new features to troubleshooting bugs, you’ll play a key role in shaping how our website functions and looks.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins
  • Build user-friendly websites using modern standards (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript) and responsive frameworks
  • Manage website updates, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal site performance
  • Integrate third-party services and APIs as needed
  • Collaborate with designers, marketers, and stakeholders to bring ideas to life.
  • Ensure sites are secure, accessible, mobile-optimized, and SEO-friendly
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of development processes
  • Provide technical support to internal teams or clients as needed

Requirements and Skills

  • Proven experience developing WordPress websites and custom themes
  • Strong understanding of PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/jQuery
  • Experience working with page builders (e.g., Elementor, WPBakery) or ACF (Advanced Custom Fields)
  • Familiarity with Git version control
  • Understanding of web performance optimization and debugging tools
  • Experience with WooCommerce, REST APIs, or plugin development is a plus
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate effectively
  • A degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field is preferred, but proven experience matters most

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with headless WordPress setups or JAMstack
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Experience with deployment tools or CI/CD pipelines
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and structured data
