Workforce Development Instructor Job Description

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Workforce Development Instructor to equip adult learners with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in today’s job market. In this role, you’ll design and lead training programs that support career advancement, technical skill-building, and personal development.

Whether it’s resume writing, job search strategies, communication, or workplace readiness, you’ll play a key role in preparing individuals for long-term employment success.

What You’ll Do

Instruction & Curriculum Development

  • Deliver engaging and interactive training sessions in-person and/or virtually
  • Design and update course materials, lesson plans, and job aids tailored to adult learners
  • Teach core workforce development topics, including resume writing, interviewing, soft skills, and job search strategies.
  • Customize training content to match industry-specific needs and employer expectations
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and support to learners throughout their training journey

Program Administration & Support

  • Coordinate with Human Resources, community partners, and program administrators to align training with workforce goals.
  • Track participant progress and maintain accurate attendance records, outcomes, and assessments.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and continuously improve program content based on feedback and results.
  • Attend professional development meetings, job fairs, and workforce forums as needed.
  • Assist with outreach, recruitment, and promotion of workforce development program.s

Requirements and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Workforce Development, Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience teaching, training, or working in job readiness programs
  • Experience delivering instruction in both live classroom and virtual settings
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and workforce development practices
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate and engage a diverse group of learners
  • Proficiency with training tools, software, and online learning platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with workforce boards, career centers, or government-funded programs
  • Certification in workforce development, adult education, or instructional design
  • Knowledge of local labor market trends and employer partnerships
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus
