We seek a dedicated and knowledgeable Zookeeper to join our animal care team. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Animal Care & Welfare
- Feed, water, and provide daily care for animals across various species.
- Maintain clean and safe animal enclosures, aviaries, and habitats.
- Monitor animal health, report illnesses or injuries, and assist with veterinary care.
- Implement enrichment programs to stimulate animals mentally and physically.
- Use proper animal handling and restraint techniques to ensure safety.
Record-Keeping & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of feeding schedules, behaviors, health conditions, and treatments.
- Submit reports on animal births, illnesses, deaths, and behavioral changes.
- Conducted daily and weekly inspections of enclosures and reported maintenance needs.
Training & Collaboration
- Train and mentor new staff and junior keepers on proper animal care protocols.
- Collaborate with veterinarians, researchers, and other zoo personnel.
- Assist in designing and adjusting enclosures to reflect the behavioral needs of animals.
Education & Outreach
- Interact with zoo visitors to educate them about animal species, conservation efforts, and responsible wildlife interaction.
- Participate in public demonstrations, talks, and behind-the-scenes tours when necessary.
Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Zoology, Animal Science, or related field.
